Diagnosis, Assessment and Psychological Evaluation

We provide a thorough assessment for each individual requesting services. This assessment will help us assist you in selecting the kind of services which can help you. We can also provide a comprehensive psychological evaluation where needed. These services are provided by our licensed psychologist and therapists. Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM with additional evening hours available. You may request an appointment for these services by calling our Main Number at 757-788-0300. Appointments for psychological or psychiatric evaluations directed by the court may also be scheduled through our Information and Referral Department.

Psychiatric Medication Management

After your assessment, you may be seen by one of our Psychiatrists. Your psychiatrist will evaluate your need for medication and provide you with a prescription if you need one. Your nurse will help you understand how to take and use your medicine. Your nurse will also tell you about any side effects of the medicine and answer your questions. If you desire, family members may also learn how to assist you with your medication.

Counseling

After your assessment, you may be seen by one of our counselors. Your counselor will talk with you about the problems in your life, and plan with you the steps for solving them. If you desire, family members may be included in your counseling.

Intensive Group Counseling

Adolescents and adults recovering from substance abuse may require group counseling several times each week. There, groups members offer each other support to regain and maintain a drug free life. In Newport News you can request these services for adults by calling 757-594-7321 or 757-827-8430.

Day Treatment

Adults recovering from substance abuse may require full time counseling and treatment every day. Staff members offer treatment, support and encouragement to regain and maintain a drug free life. You can request this service by calling 757-788-0400.

Methadone Maintenance

Adults recovering from heroin or use of other injected drugs or who have been prescribed methadone, can get help at our methadone maintenance clinic. Please call 757-827-8430 to learn more about how this service can help you.

Detoxification Services

If you or someone you know are using drugs now and need a safe place to stop, our detoxification services may help you. Please call 757-788-0400 to learn more about how this service can help you.

Residential Treatment.

Adults who want to recover from substance abuse may need a safe place to live while receiving treatment to regain a drug free life. If you or someone you know may need this service please call 757-827-8430.

Adults recovering from substance abuse may need help to keep them living independently. Case Managers can help these adults and their involved family members develop a plan to meet their needs. The Case Manager can also link them to other services, assist them in getting services, and in arranging needed transportation. Case Managers assist adults who are being discharged from hospitals and residential facilities resume life in the community. Children's Substance Abuse Services

Children and Adolescents recovering from substance abuse may need a variety of services to help them recover from their substance abuse and improve their lives. They may be experiencing difficulties in school, with the law, and at home. We will evaluate the needs of your child and adolescent and develop a plan of treatment with you and your child. This plan may include individual, family, and group counseling, psychiatric services, and the services of our case managers. Services for Mothers and Mothers To Be

Women coping with addiction have unique needs. Project Link and the Southeast Family Program offer help to mothers and mothers to be to recover from substance use and keep their children healthy and safe. Please call 757-788-0500 for help.

Supervised Residential and Group Home

Adults with serious mental illness or mental retardation sometimes require full time assistance to live in the community. Our residential program can provide them with a safe, secure and supervised place to live. Our residential counselors can also help those who have a place to live but need assistance with things like budgeting, menu planning and meal preparation, participating in community activities, using the bus system, keeping safe, and getting to appointments, .If you believe you or a family member needs residential services please call our residential manager at 757-723-7306.

Psycho-social Clubhouse

Our clubhouse provides a place where adults with serious mental illness can develop skills and enjoy activities in a safe and supervised location.

Partial Hospitalization

Adults with serious mental illness can often avoid inpatient hospital services through our partial hospitalization program. This program provides a safe and secure place for these adults to increase stability while remaining in the community.

Vocational Services

Adults recovering from mental illness sometimes need help in preparing to work, and in finding and keeping a job. Our vocational services staff can help you discover and improve your job skills while helping you find and keep a job. If you or a family member need this service please call us at 757-788-0828.

HIV Early Intervention Services

We provide HIV testing, education, and counseling services. We also help those with HIV leaving correctional or hospital facilities to obtain housing, employment and other services. Day Services

Adults with mental retardation can find meaningful activities to gain independence at our day services program. They can also receive training, support and services to help them live better at home, at work and in the community. For more information please call 757-788-0100.

Adult Day Care

Adults with special needs like Alzheimer's disease, stroke, and other mental challenges may benefit from a safe secure place to spend their day while being assisted to live as independently as possible. If you know someone who would like this service please cal 757-788-0100.

Intensive In-Home Services

Children with serious emotional disturbances may be at risk of being removed from their home. Our In Home Services program can provide intensive therapy services at home to help children and their families reduce the level of emotional disturbance, resolve family problems and build more stable families.

Mentor Services

Children with emotional disturbances, substance abuse or mental retardation needs can receive help from a mentor. A mentor is a trained professional personally assigned to a child to help the child solve problems and encourage the child to develop academic, social, emotional, vocational, athletic and artistic skills. Mentors may also give families much needed time for themselves, while providing the child with recreational and social activities.

Supervised Independent Living Services.

Children from 16 to 18 who are not living with their families can find a safe and secure place to live and prepare for adult life in our supervised independent living program.

Professional Parent Recruitment

We are seeking master's prepared adult professionals to provide home living for children with serious emotional disturbances. If you think you would like to provide this much needed service, please call Betsy Clark at our professional parent program at 757-788-0600.

Children's After School Program

Children with mental retardation and other disabilities may benefit from our after school recreation services. Children in the program usually receive school bus transportation to the program, are provided with a high quality personal care and are picked up by the parents in the early evening.

Family Support Program

Families with children with moderate or more severe mental retardation and/or other significant disabilities need a variety of services which are not available without financial support. Program of Assertive Community Treatment

On outreach service for people with a serious mental illness or substance abuse who need services outside an office setting. If you know someone who may benefit from this service call 757-788-0400 for more information.

Prevention Services

Efforts to prevent substance abuse and promote healthy lifestyles for youth are promoted by our prevention services. Anyone can request information or educational presentations on alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.
