The Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board’s Therapeutic Day Treatment (TDT) Services is a treatment program that serves children and adolescents with serious emotional disturbance by assisting them to achieve and maintain optimal functioning in the academic and community settings. The Program works closely with School Administration, Educators, Parents, and other service providers to meet each student’s unique needs. These school-based services assist in preventing the need for more restrictive levels and assists with addressing emotional and behavioral challenges of students and their families to promote healthy character development and successes in the academic and community settings.
Therapeutic Day Treatment services are individualized to address the unique needs of youth and assist in providing opportunities in an educational setting to learn and use daily living skills and to enhance social and interpersonal skills such as problem-solving, empathy, anger management, community responsibility, impulse control and, appropriate peer relations. Behavioral Counselor’s provide ongoing support to the student and educational staff in the classroom and school setting to promote optimal classroom learning experiences.
Specific service interventions may include:
•Assessment of individual needs;
•Behavioral Assessment and Intervention;
•Linkage to Case Management and other Community Resources.
